Both the bridge of the "Snakes" as the jetty which gives access are included as well selected in the National Industrial Heritage of the Ministry of Culture
The Eagles Hall is interested in using this infrastructure and restore
President of ADIF, Antonio González Marín, and the mayor of Aguilas (Murcia), Juan Ramírez Soto, today signed a collaboration agreement for the transfer of the Bridge of the "Snakes", declared of cultural interest in the category of monument and rated with a degree of protection of Level 1 by the General Urban Plan of the said City.
Under this agreement, Adif free transfers to the City of Eagles this bridge that crosses the ravine of the "Snakes" and connects the old mineral railway pier "The Oven."
Both the said bridge as the pier are included as well selected in the National Industrial Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, in addition to having been declared of cultural interest.
The Eagles Hall is interested in using and restore the bridge, within the activities aimed at remodeling the environment included in the Plan of basic municipal infrastructure integrated into the extraordinary measures for economic promotion and consolidation of employment. "
This action is part of a healing process and recovery landscape and value of this asset.
In this way, and since the land on which stands this infrastructure are not being transferred in that agreement authorizes the City Council Adif Eagles to begin the work of the technical project of "Restoration of Access Bridge Pier Stove" .
For its part, the City of Eagle is committed to managing the procurement of licenses and permits necessary for the implementation of the agreement.
The bridge of the "Snakes" was built in 1902 by the former British company "The Stove Company Limited" and officially closed July 15, 1973.
This former rail infrastructure now has no use for the activity of ADIF, since it was decommissioned for railway use in 2000.
