Elementary students from different schools in the area have visited the Columbine Association for the Protection of Animals and Plants (AGUIPROAN).
This visit is framed within the school program "Coastal Ecoescuela" developed by the Department of Education of the City of Eagle and City Yacht Club.
One of the objectives of this act, which received assistance from the mayor of Education of the consistory aquiline, Francisco Clemente and technical director of Club Nautico, Pedro Juan Pérez-Castejon, is to educate children about the responsibility of pet ownership and fight against animal abandonment, after their owners lose their initial enthusiasm.
As explained AGUIPROAN managers, Maria Luisa Lucas Mataix and Peinado, this association has volunteers who work selflessly, its main purpose being to defend the lives of animals, which are mostly dogs and cats, attending care, housing and finding them a foster home.
The "Coastal eco-schools" is offered Monday through Thursday, from 16'00 to 18'00 hours, seeking to foster in students a curiosity about their identity and appreciate the importance of core values that enrich the Eagles, its coastline and diversity, to act with respect by understanding the environment in which we live.
Develop the relationship with the natural habitat and contribute actively to the protection, conservation and environmental improvement is one of the purposes of the program, involving over 300 schoolchildren from 3 ° to 5 ° of primary education.
Among the purposes of "Ecoescuela Coastal" is also known natural heritage through visits to points of special interest and sailing, making an approach to the environment and society, developing a caring attitude and respect for the exercise of this right.
The methodology used in these extracurricular activities allows students to learn while having fun, going on guided tours, workshops and excursions, which are complemented by educational work within the school.
