The work is already running at 90% and 60 generate annual hectometres are signing contracts with irrigation communities, Commonwealth of Channels Pulpí Taibilla and City Council.
Representatives of the four communities that will benefit from irrigation water Desalination plant Eagles have visited with the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS).
This facility will produce 60 cubic hectometres of water each year for which there are agreements signed with the users, for funding and operation.
To the last drop is already agreement: 48 hectometres are for irrigation, for irrigation communities of Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras, Eagles and Pulpí, and the other 12 for supplies (Commonwealth of Channels Pulpí Taibilla and City Council).
During the visit, the Presidents of farmer-Lorca Manuel Soler, Antonio Martinez in Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Jiménez and Javier Serrano Eagles Pulpí-expressed desire that the works completed as soon as possible to start using water for irrigation .
Work is progressing apace and the desalination plant is now virtually complete.
Investment and Technical Data
The Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine spends a figure close to 240 million euros in this work through the public company Acuamed.
The new desalination plant is located on a parcel north of the town of Aguilas, in the expansion of the industrial estate next to the existing desalination plant of the Community of Irrigators.
The production capacity is 180,000 cubic meters (60 cubic hectometres a year) and has executed the civil works of the plant, making the discharge and the distribution network for an extension to a production of 210,000 cubic meters per day ( 70 hm 3 / year).
The capture of sea water is an open intake located at the mouth of the wadi Cañarete, half a kilometer from the coastline at a depth of 17 meters, which is attached to the pumping chamber, on land, by driving.
The pumping chamber of raw water to the plant is located near the sea and underground, thus minimizing possible impacts.
The line of treatment that will follow the seawater in the process of transformation in freshwater includes the following phases: pre-treatment chemical, physical pretreatment, reverse osmosis treatment and aftercare for irrigation and remineralization.
The reject water discharge occurs through a marine outfall, the bathymetric 34, one kilometer from the coast facing the Rock of Roncaor behind the dam of the port.
The water distribution networks are produced three drives, the first raises the water to the reservoir Salinaro, Community Irrigation Eagles, another makes up the tanks of the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channels in this coastal city, and third drives the water through two pumps.
One is located on the ground, the water rises to the intermediate tank and from there is pumped to the pond for the Regulation of Cerro Colorado, located in the hamlet of the same name, in Lorca.
