The Auditorium and Congress Palace "Infanta Elena" host from tomorrow Tuesday, August 2, the Sixteenth Edition of the Lecture "Looking to the Sea, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Eagle and the International Sea-Campus Mare Nostrum.
The conferences will take place at 20:00 hours and will be coordinated by Juan María Vázquez Rojas, Vice Chancellor for Research and International Campus of the University of Murcia
The first paper, titled "Present and Future of Fisheries in the Mediterranean", run by the director of the Oceanographic Centre of Murcia, José María Bellido Millán.
Bellido Millán received his doctorate in oceanography and marine ecology at the University of Aberdeen (United Kingdom).
Specialist biogeography and spatial modeling of fishery resources and assessment, has extensive research experience, from his participation in more than 20 projects of national and international research, from the Falkland Islands to the North Sea or the Mediterranean.
He has authored numerous scientific publications and consultancy reports on the assessment of fishery resources and the health of the seas.
As a researcher, and even more as director of the Oceanographic Centre of Murcia, IEO, is very involved in the dissemination of marine research.
For him, the research does not make sense if the company does not receive their results, which aims to increase the public visibility of marine science, "so that people see and feel that there are people who devote their careers to studying the marine environment, and we are with a view to advance and improve the knowledge and the status and use of goods that are common. "
Present and Future of Fisheries in the Mediterranean
Since decades the "fishing world" is facing a very high dynamic, with continual changes which we must adapt quickly.
Currently, the fishing world includes a wide spectrum of stakeholders and involved, ranging from the extractive sector and associated industries, consultants and researchers from state resources, citizens groups and environmentalists and government organizations with management skills.
This increased interest has a greater wealth of opinions, but also introduced a great complexity in fisheries management.
It should also be noted that for 25 years, with the entry of Spain into the European Economic Community, the Community fisheries policy and is considered to be agreed within the European Union.
This conference will present the evolution of the different fishing grounds in the Mediterranean over the last forty years, the role of the researchers who act as advisers to management and policy framework of the different actors involved in fisheries management.
Intended as a discussion forum where certain issues are opened to allow a direct and enriching the people attending this conference.
A total of four lectures are to be developed until the 11th of August, within this series of conferences that after 16 years, has a large number of followers.

Thursday August 4: "The kingdom of Murcia in Naval History: men and ships for the Royal Navy," the director of the Department of Naval History, Juan José Sánchez Baena.
Tuesday August 9: "Archaeological and Historical Heritage of Eagles" by the Eagles municipal archaeologist, Juan de Dios Hernández García.
Thursday August 11 (Closing): "Tourism in times of crisis," the president of the Bureau of Tourism and Economy of the Circle of Murcia, Francisco Pacheco Jesús Méndez.
