In yesterday afternoon Tuesday, August 2, the mayor of Eagle, Giménez Hernández Bartolomé and the larger pattern of the fishermen, Francisco Gomez, held a working meeting to discuss the current situation of the sector.
Accompanied by the Councillor of Fisheries, Agriculture and Livestock, Francisco Navarro, and the secretary of the Brotherhood, Domingo García, the authorities discussed the difficult moment that, like other groups, also cross the fishermen.
During the meeting on the table were various problems, most notably the lack of catches and low product prices.
In this regard, we evaluated the ability to perform the necessary steps to try to get a grant, with which more vessels can develop a clean seabed customary fishing areas.
Similarly, also raised that the City of Eagle could intercede with other administrations when it comes to expedite certain paperwork.
Currently, a total of 138 people make up the local fishing workforce, spread over about 40 vessels fishing in different arts (9 trails, 4 of fence, 2 longline gear and 23 minors).
