Coinciding with the imminent arrival of seasonal change, today Wednesday, September 21, the Department of Environment of the City of Eagle has launched a new program of action against the evils of "Red Palm Weevil" (Rynchophorus ferrugineus).
Previous work has developed throughout the month of September and have been to attach an application of the treatment system from the ground to the cup or eye of the palm, connecting a polyethylene pipe for pumping different chemicals.
This tube will stay in place in each tree during the period lasting treatments.
The initiation of treatment, itself, has begun this morning in the palm trees past the Plaza of Spain and extend in a first phase, squares: Alfonso Escamez, Robles Vives, Isaac Peral, Antonio Farmhouses Sicily.
After more than three years without favorable results, which have combined various culling and treatment with insecticides, fungi entomoparásitos, nematodes, surgeries, and traps with pheromone attractant kairomones and insect itself in this new program, arguably the most aggressive those used so far, the Department of Environment of the City of Eagle has chosen the combination of two types of insecticides "Chlorpyrifos" and "Imidacropil", both contact and systemic broad-spectrum, and a third additive prevention of fungal pathogens such as Fusarium sp.
