The Municipal People rise to regular plenary in September, which will be held on Thursday, August 29th, at 20:00 pm in the consistory aquiline, a motion to support the Mediterranean corridor, to Murcia.
The motion to be debated in plenary session by all political groups represented municipal, reads as follows:
FERRMED (major railway freight Scandinavia-Rhine-Rhone-western Mediterranean) over six years working intensively with the aim of achieving full recognition of the Mediterranean Corridor and its integration into the main network trans-European transport.
The Spanish government has not yet argued forcefully and clearly to the European Commission that the entire Mediterranean Corridor is part of the Central railway network of the European Union, it still does not support the southern stretch of the Mediterranean Corridor in a clear and forceful .
This ambiguity in their commitment once again shows that the National Government is marginalizing the region of Murcia.
This strip of Spain from Cadiz to Gerona covers 40% of the population and GDP in Spain, about 50% of agricultural production value, 55% of industrial production, tourism 70%, 60% of exports, about 60% of the land transport of goods or 65% of maritime traffic.
For these reasons, socio-economic is vital to include the southern stretch of the Mediterranean Corridor, from Murcia to Almeria and from there to Algeciras and Malaga Motril through.
All these studies demonstrate the competitiveness of the project with an internal rate of return of 11.1%.
Its implementation is the only way to reverse the downward trend in the share of rail freight road transport, and achieving significant savings in emissions of greenhouse gases, particularly CO2.
FERRMED study execution in the Spanish Mediterranean Arc (implementation of the standards and inclusion of the Mediterranean Corridor in trans-European backbone network), mean global benefits by transferring traffic from road to rail, energy saving, savings of time and reducing accidents and harmful emissions of around 67,000 million euros in the period 2016 to 2045.
Socio-economic studies on the Mediterranean axis refer an extraordinary contribution to the regional economy than 22,600 million euros between 2016 and 2045 based on increasing the competitiveness of rail traffic within the whole land, something that will help future area significantly logistics activities Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras.
Thus, the creation of the main rail network of the European Union goods will place the region of Guadalentín in a prominent position for transit train between 3,600 and 5,000 tonnes useful to generate a dynamic and attractive to international investors, and strengthening the competitiveness of the regional economy.
In addition, the impulse to rail transport for goods in transit will be a considerable savings in energy and environmental costs in relation to other modes of transport, sea, air or road which will be complemented by a network of roads that provide high performance benefits the entire industry through the intermodality between them.
Thus, the industrial hub Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras will increase their chances for growth with the addition of logistics and industrial activities open to the Mediterranean corridor.
Therefore, the Municipal People shall submit to the Plenary the adoption of the following agreements:
FIRST .- The Eagles City Council expresses its support for the Mediterranean corridor, to Murcia.
