The mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez, and Councilman Local Development, Industry, Trade and Employment, Carlos Buitrago Bartholomew, along with other officials from different municipalities in our area, participated today in a ceremony organized by the Friends of Railroad "The Labradorcico" where its president, Miguel Losilla, has announced the development of a document to be forwarded to FERRMED requesting an intermodal station for our region.
FERRMED is a non-profit, multi-sectoral, which was officially incorporated and registered in Brussels on August 5, 2004.
It was created at the initiative of business, to contribute to: improving European competitiveness through the promotion of so-called "Standards FERRMED" empowering connections of ports and airports with their "hinterlands" Drive major railway freight "Scandinavia-Rhine-Rhone-Western Mediterranean" as a more sustainable development, through reducing pollution and emissions of gases that affect climate change.
As noted by the authorities present at the event, the document that starts from the Cultural Association of Friends of the Railroad "The Labradorcico", with initial support from the municipalities of Eagles, Pulpí and Cuevas de Almanzora, has been drafted at a time in which social and political forces have come together to ensure that future projects do not leave rail links outside our region.
For this reason, we request an Intermodal Container Station in our area, capable of uniting all the export potential of the area.
The high speed line Murcia - Almeria, records that Pulpí is an enclave of importance within the technical organization of the line and includes the construction of a major technical enclave for the rail link to Eagles and line maintenance Murcia-Almeria.
The strategic plan includes Andalusia rail enabling a railway line that will travel throughout the Almanzora Basin and linking the towns of Guadix and Baza and Murcia through the rail link Pulpí.
Moreover, in recent requests FERRMED, this lobby has asked the Ministry of Transport direct connection Baza Granada.
Also to meet the expectations set by FERRMED, collected the need for an intermodal station between Murcia and Almeria.
