Councilman Agriculture has indicated that this agreement opens the door 'wide' to the Moroccan garden.
The Department of Agriculture of the City of Eagle has shown his absolute opposition to the approval of the agricultural agreement between the EU and Morocco, since according to the mayor responsible for this area, Francisco Navarro, opens the door "wide open" to the Moroccan garden products, which directly affects farmers aquiline.
The agreement, approved by 369 votes in favor, 225 against and 31 abstentions, to the liberalization of trade in all agricultural products, except that the EU considers sensitive for the maintenance of the agricultural economy within the Community, as the case of tomato, cucumber, zucchini and clementines, among a few.
All other products will be a limit on imports, input or fixed prices.
For these "sensitive" products, it also increases the share that Morocco can sell to Europe, which concerned both the City and the farmers.
Although the tomato has space, concern remains important, because until the ratification of this agreement is in effect one signed in 2004, which established a quota less than that in May it will begin to implement, which has never been accomplished by part of Morocco, or controlled by the European Union.
This liberalization of the agricultural market, we must add the requirements regarding sanitary and quality that makes them the products of member countries, among which is Spain, and on the contrary do not apply to foods imported Europe from northern Africa.
Apart from the damage that will cause the producers, is a consumer fraud and unfair competition that hurts many and benefits the few.
