Start the school year and return to live with more intensity after the last course of action, the consequences of cuts and austerity policies: overcrowded classrooms, downsizing, required to teach subjects for which specialist is not, displacement of teachers, reducing labor rights of workers in education, support elimination of courses, cessation of new FP cycles, reduced scholarships, tuition fees increased, reducing operating expense items for the centers ... And all this, in practice, means nothing to a drastic reduction in the quality of public education.
For us the reality is becoming increasingly clear: with the mantra that we have lived beyond our means, we have to borrow at low interest and achieve low risk premium, or you need to rescue our banks, labor market flexibility and reduce costs in the public sector are "forced" to governments to end basic rights of the majority of the population.
Such basic services as public education, without discrimination transmits culture, social cohesive-engine of progress and are constantly attacked and threatened.
And yet, is left intact throughout the political and economic model that has led to the current crisis.
Ultimately, the outcome of these policies shows that what it is to lower the standard of living of the majority of the population, in the form of cuts, so that they continue to maintain high rates of benefits large companies.
The aggressiveness of these policies is gradually taking the educational community convinced that the answer must be provided.
To defend the education we want today are necessary, at least massive and permanent mobilization of the entire educational community, with the collaboration of all sectors involved, the unity of all those affected by the policies of cuts, the clarification of ideas about alternatives and, right now, the demand for resignation of the government.
Each mobilization particular, we understand, not only serves to stop the cuts, but to walk in this light medium and long term.
From the first snip was applied in Murcia we've come a long way.
We have gone from the euphoria of the first mass demonstrations (those who managed to stop the first cuts) to become aware of the need for decisive action to be creating groups of teachers, parents and students increasingly more settled and organized, to define our ideas with increasing strength ... The county platforms are increasingly nerve, especially as we increasingly more aware of the situation, that the road will not be easy, but the way that, we believe, exists.
However, to our protests to reverse course marking financial and business elites, there is still work to do (how long or short it is up to us): we must reach each and every partner center permanently maintain contact with fellow interns who do not work, improving the relationship with parents assemblies and meetings, facilitate and promote, to the extent possible, the student organization, contact other sectors affected by the cuts and work unit around our ideas.
And in that way we are.
From Public Education We begin the new school year with enthusiasm, eager to fight and serve as a tool in the defense of public education, assuming our responsibility to defend the universal right of everyone to receive scientific and humanistic education that our history bequeathed.
We understand that without this public education for all and for all, that it has been sanctioned by the Declaration of Human Rights and our Constitution, can not be a model of society fairly fair.
Say it clear: I did not vote never cuts, I mobilized for the right of all to a quality public education, I said no to the dictatorship of the markets and I will continue on the warpath against these cuts, against governments that implemented and against financial and business elites that ordered.
