The municipal groups represented in the City of Eagles (PP, PSOE and Mixed), raise the regular plenary in February a joint proposal for study, debate and approval, if applicable.
The text will be read during the plenary session will be held on Thursday, February 28, at 20:00 am in the consistory aquiline and is related to the International Day of the Rights of Women, commemorated on 8 March.
The content of that manifesto is as follows:
Gender equality has been made in Spain during the years of democracy.
This development has resulted in a better life for the women of this country, as well as more rights for themselves and for society as a whole.
Equality and non-discrimination between women and men in all areas, are enshrined in our Constitution.
The government, as the Constitution contains in Article 9.2, shall promote the equality of individuals so that it is real and effective and should eliminate the obstacles that prevent or hinder.
In Article 14, the Constitution recognizes the equality between women and men, stating that "the Spanish are equal before the law without any discrimination on grounds of birth, race, sex, religion, opinion or any other condition or circumstance personal or social. "
Although the law provides for equality between women and men, the fact is that this formal equality does not translate into a real course, is not enough to change the law to change the structures, stereotypes and actual values.
Equality is not yet effective, although much has been achieved, wage discrimination, precarious employment, difficulties still exist for reconciling work and family life, the still small number of women in senior positions, put clear that much remains to be done.
A modern and democratic society can not do without the contribution of women.
These are one of the most important pillars, although still less recognized, for economic growth, so any case of discrimination is a brake on individual development and, above all, the development of society as a whole.
On this day we commemorate the International Women's Day, we remember the work done by millions of women who have contributed and continue to do their work, effort and, in many cases, with their lives, to the defense of equality and the rights of women.
The ignorance of the history of women, coupled with gender roles and stereotypes that still exist in our society, remains an obstacle to progress in the struggle for full equality.
That's what the City of Eagle wants to show:
The commitment to promote equality of opportunity and to raise awareness of the changes that are yet to occur in society, so that women and men participate in it with full equality.
The recognition of the value of women's struggle for equality and to participate equally with men in society, now and throughout history.
The commitment to work together for a better and fairer society, with equal opportunities for women and men.
The determination to conduct information and awareness campaigns on equality of opportunity and responsibility.
To express the strongest protest against the acts of violence against women in all its manifestations and unconditional support of the victims of such acts, through instruments both preventive care and care for them.
