During the sessions, students have come into direct contact with dogs being the experience so rewarding for all parties to be repeated in the future.
The mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez and Councillor for Health and Social Services of the City of Eagle, Ana M ª Miñarro today closed the first workshop Assisted Therapy Dogs for People with Disabilities in the offices of the Occupational Center "Urci".
This activity has been going on since last April 16, with sessions of four hours a week, along with the collaboration of the Association for the Protection of Animals and Plants of Eagles (Aguiproan), and under the supervision of a social integrative entitled, Silvia Romero and dog trainer, Jojo Scherck, both protective volunteers.
During the course, users "Urci" have been enjoying teamwork and real contact with animals.
The general objectives of this workshop were divided into three areas:
Physical.
Improve motor skills, abilities, etc..
Mental Health.
Increasing verbal interaction among members of a group, increase focus, increase self-esteem and reduce anxiety, among others.
Education.
Increase vocabulary or memory of individuals.
Authorities have been accompanied by the Municipal Veterinarian, Manuel Sansegundo, and Occupational Center president "Urci" Pepi Lopez.
In their statements have stressed that during the sessions, students have come into contact with animals being rewarding experience for all parties to be repeated in the future.
