Several members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) today visited Eagles within a listening program for the opinion on the strategic guidelines for sustainable development of aquaculture.
EESC members have traveled processing plants and marine culture of the company "Culmarex", accompanied by the mayor of Eagle, Bartolome Hernandez, along with the director general of Livestock and Fisheries, Carmen Morales, and the Councillor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Navarro.
This committee, composed of 353 members from 28 countries, is a consultative body of the European Union to issue opinions in order to advise the Commission, the Parliament and the Council on regulatory initiatives and proposals that will affect the European environment .
It was created in 1957, in order to involve the social and economic groups in establishing a common market and promote institutional bodies that advise the European Commission and the Council of Ministers of the EU on EU issues.
The findings of the hearing, to be held tomorrow in Murcia, shall be borne by the rapporteur of the European Economic and Social Committee, José María Espuny, this now also in the event which took place in Águilas.
After the visit, the mayor of Eagle and the Director General of Livestock and Fisheries has highlighted the importance of aquaculture and referred to "Culmarex" as an exemplary company in the sector.
