Over one hundred and fifty members of the Municipal Center on Aging participate in a Gerontogimnasia Course, organized by the Consistory aquiline.
The mayor of Health and Ageing, Ana Maria Miñarro, head of the Department responsible for coordinating the course, and the Councillor for Sports, Diego Martinez, this morning visited the pavilion "Diego Calvo Valera" the sports center, where the general classes.
Upon arrival, authorities were received by the president of the senior center, Juana Gonzalez, and the instructor of the course, Angela Cegarra, the latter responsible for explaining the operation of the classes and the benefits of practicing this type of exercise.
As indicated Cegarra, sessions are divided into three segments: warming, by stretching and joint mobility, core, with activities for the full development of the body, and an end section, based on natural breathing.
Participants are separated into two groups, establishing a schedule of 45 minutes for each class.
These take place twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will continue until June.
After witnessing the exercises, the Councillor for Health and Ageing stressed the importance of promoting the sport among the elderly, provided it is done in a safe, supervised by professionals and tailored to the physical condition of each.
Finally, Miñarro stressed the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, away from sedentary and stressed that these activities enhance the integration and coexistence of the largest, while contributing to active aging person.
