Eagle City Council has convened an extraordinary plenary session for tomorrow Thursday, November 21, which will be held at 13:30 pm, with a single point of the day.
This is a joint proposal of all political groups represented in the Consistory aquiline Municipal (PP, PSOE and Mixed), to support the allegations made by the Community Irrigation Eagles to Draft Basin Hydrological Plan of the Segura.
The motion, which will move to the plenary for consideration, discussion and approval, indicates the following:
For all is known and recognized the importance of agriculture to our town, devoted to this use more than 6,000 acres of the area of ​​the municipality.
Sustainable agriculture is a modern and efficient, generating jobs and wealth for our society, which is positioned as a cornerstone of the local economy.
To carry out agricultural work is essential water use, such as precious and scarce for our geographical area.
Water that is used by the farmers, drop by drop, due to its scarcity and its high price.
Eagles is the municipality of Murcia and certainly in Spain, where irrigation water is paid at a price much higher than the rest of the irrigators and where we do not have, on a consolidated basis from external inputs or Basin Transfer.
Given the opportunity before us to try to improve the water situation in our country, to meet the Basin Plan on public exhibition period for comment, the City of Eagle wants to show their full support for the Irrigation of our town and the allegations will present this Plan.
These claims seek to consolidate some irrigation which had been occurring for more than 50 years and are looking to be recognized all of the surface waters at Eagles actually.
Similarly, try to be recognized real water deficit occurs in our field, to get input from the Segura basin or other basins that the future may come to our territory, may well meet grant 15 hectometers of desalinated water from a source other cheaper.
For all the above, local groups (Popular, Socialist and Mixed) proposed the adoption of the following resolutions:
1. - The Full Council expresses its support for the allegations made by the Community Irrigation Eagles to Draft Basin Hydrological Plan of the Segura.
Two. - That this agreement, together with the claims, be reported to: Eagle Community Irrigation, the Segura River Basin and Water Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the Minister of Agriculture.
Three. - Empower Mr. Mayor-President City of Eagle for execution as required herein.
