About a hundred primary school students belonging to different centers of the city, this afternoon visited the facilities of the Columbine Association for the Protection of Animals and Plants (AGUIPROAN).
It is framed in the school program "Coastal Eco-Schools" initiative, which since 2002 the Department of Education develop aquiline Consistory and Yacht Club Eagles.
During the visit, the students were accompanied by their instructors and the mayor of Education, Francisco Clemente, as well as the technical director of the Yacht Club, Pedro Juan Perez-Castejón, who were greeted on arrival by the president of AGUIPROAN Mary Mataix Luisa.
One objective of this action is to educate children about the responsibility of pet ownership and combat the abandonment of animals, since these are much more than entertainment and can not be put aside when we get tired of them, he said Francisco Clemente.
As explained María Luisa Mataix, this association has volunteers who work selflessly, with its main purpose to defend the lives of animals, among which are mostly dogs and cats, treating them sanitary, housing them and finding them a home for adoption.
The "Coastal Eco-Schools" program seeks to foster in students a curiosity about his identity and appreciate the importance of core values ​​that enrich Eagles, its coastline and its diversity, to act with respect by understanding the environment in which we live.
Among the purposes of "eco-schools Coastlines" is also know the natural heritage through visits to points of special interest and sailing, making an approach to the environment and society, developing an attitude of interest and respect for the exercise of this law.
The methodology used in these activities enables students to learn while having fun, attending guided tours, workshops and excursions, which are complemented by educational work within the school.
