Given the recent agreement signed between the City of Eagle and Caritas Parish of St. Joseph, by which they will allocate EUR 200,000 from city coffers to subsidize and encourage temporary jobs to members of needy families, the Municipal Socialist Group also want to express:
It seems very well this initiative to alleviate the needs of families, to have several or all members unemployed, are faring badly.
We assume that the agreement is to provide the money to Caritas and the NGO which is processed and somehow managing those contracts.
And why not just understand that people aspiring those jobs are going to the City council looking to the government team to deliver their curriculum and undergo the mandatory interview.
From the Municipal Socialist Group Caritas believe should be in charge of these procedures, measures and criteria, while it would be an exercise in transparency publishing requirements and scale to apply for contracts.
More than anything so that citizens would know whether Social Services have developed a study to elucidate which are the most disadvantaged families and whose members could fall to any of these contracts, or alternatively, why not, if they have applied to the Employment Service and Training, SEF, a list of long-term unemployed or families with all members unemployed.
Ultimately, and especially to avoid suspicions about favoritism, we backslide in our view that it would make sense that we knew all what criteria are being used to hire these people, and all this despite the fact that we maintain that it should be Caritas, as faithful and impartial expert on the social situation, the agency responsible for the award of these contracts.
