Last weekend, in the Plaza of Spain Eagles, the act of discovery of a bust took place thanks to Pope John XXIII, recently canonized, which in May 1963 declared the Virgin of Sorrows Patron Canonical Eagles .
The event was chaired by the local chief executive, Bartolome Hernandez, accompanied by various members of the municipal corporation and sculptor Juan José Quirós, author of the work, as well as pastors Manuel Amatriaín, Antonio Salvador Perez and Luis Diaz, this latter also official chronicler of the Villa.
The bust, which has been funded by contributions from the parishioners, is in front of the Parish of San José, where it remains the image of the patron saint of Eagles, located in one of the beautiful gardens of the central roundabout.
After the discovery of the image of the Holy Father, the mayor of Eagle noted the affection aquiline feel towards the Virgin of Sorrows, stating that "this bust is a source of pride for all, as a tribute to the person who stated Canonical patron of the municipality. "
Similarly, the priest Antonio Salvador Perez and sculptor Juan José Quirós, were happy for this "just recognition of San Juan XXIII".
