The Department of Culture and Celebration of the City of Águilas are immersed in extensive and varied program of activities, which will run until the end of August, in which daily events for leisure and free time are included.
Proposals for this Thursday, August 21, are related to flamenco and opera.
At 22 pm in front of the Auditorium and Congress Palace Infanta Doña Elena and framed in the fourth cycle in the Bay Lyrical, free screening of the famous opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet, libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy separated in four acts based on the novel by Prosper Mérimée.
It is set in Seville in 1820 and the protagonist is a beautiful gypsy who was jailed after a fight, but after this seduces Don José who escapes to the mountains.
In the end, Carmen falls for the toreador Escamillo and Don José, blind jealousy, murderous.
It premiered in Paris on March 3, 1875, months after the death of its author.
The love, passion and jealousy are the predominant components of this work with fatal outcome.
On the other hand, also at 22 pm in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijo, will be held the flamenco show "Passion and Fire" starring the famous singers Manuel Orta and Laura Gallego, who remember the two great Spanish music, Manolo Caracol and Lola Flores.
It is an event that integrates flamenco, art and theater, with a duration of an hour and a half, with four musicians on stage and where the public will enjoy with Manuel Orta singing malagueñas, bulerías and fandango, while Laura Gallego construed popular subjects like "Maria la O", "The Salvaora" or "La Niña de Fuego", among others.
Tickets are available at the usual outlets, priced at 12 euros or 15 at the box office early.
