This morning, the Councillor for Education aquiline Consistory, Francisco Clemente, next to manager and sporting director of the Nautical Club of Eagle, José María Martínez and Juan Pedro Pérez-Castejón, respectively, presented the twelfth edition of the free school program ' Coastal Eco-Schools'.
Clemente began by congratulating all those involved in this project has recently been awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water as one of the winners of the Sustainable Development in the section on environmental education initiative for citizens and consumers in the Region of Murcia.
Thus, said the mayor, meeting program objectives 'awareness, education and understanding of the cultural and environmental heritage of Eagles' is evident.
During the meeting with the media, explained that these activities have started this week and is expected to attend over two hundred students from 3rd to 5th of Primary Education, belonging to different schools of the town.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday, from 16 to 18 hours, making guided by the cultural and natural heritage of the town, supplemented by teaching exercises within the school visits.
This program also allows children know the bond you have with the sea eagles, they know what the beginnings of the city were and how to care for it as a whole, developing a relationship with the natural habitat and actively contributing to the protection, preservation and improving the environment.
So, for the third consecutive year and thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Environment and Cleaning, students planted dozens of pine trees in different locations in the town, also involving families of children together to take care of monitoring and care of trees along the school year 2014/15.
Other initiatives to become a part of this program are workshops: 'Set your life', where it affects the damage of physical inactivity and healthy lifestyles are promoted through daily exercise, and 'Energy House' where school know how to harness renewable energy, by raising awareness about the value of energy and the importance of rational consumption.
New in this edition, workshops on responsible consumption of natural resources, especially water, and nutrition education and combating childhood obesity, as well as guided tours of the new Interpretation Centre and Aquarium Sea Eagles views are incorporated (CIMAR).
Finally, to conclude the press conference, officials of the 'Coastal Eco-Schools' program appealed to all students interested in participating, reminding them that they just have to fill out the application they will encounter in their schools or the Department of Education.
