The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Adela Martinez-Cache, today visited the fruit and vegetable company Eagles 'Expoaguilas', which highlighted the "added value" that farmers in the area give the production culture techniques employed and the modernization their facilities.
The owner of Agriculture and Water, which was accompanied by the mayor of Eagle, Bartolome Hernandez, and the council of Agriculture, Francisco Navarro, said that this cooperative "brings together small farmers, it adapts to their crops and serves their needs."
He said "the region has made a commitment to quality in their productions," adding that the proceeds of agricultural policies '' should encourage the development of agriculture '', with the modernization of facilities and the introduction of technology "to make the sector more competitive."
He explained further that "competition from third countries should not obscure our levels of competitiveness", and in this sense indicated that the European Union "must abide by stricter measures of control that prevent increased quotas input or import under conditions dubious about the quality culture ".
Expoaguilas is an agricultural cooperative that is dedicated to the production and export of tomato since 1998. This company has more than 70 partners, both small and medium producers, who are dedicated to growing tomatoes in an area of ​​over 100 hectares.
The volume of marketed production in 2014 exceeded ten million kilos of tomatoes, which are used both domestically and internationally, in countries like Italy, Portugal, France, Denmark and Poland.
