The Local Assembly Eagles Spanish Red Cross has been recognized by the Higher Centre for Scientific Research, the Institute of Marine Sciences, the University of Alicante and Multidisciplinary Institute for Environmental Studies Ramón Margalef Collaborating Project "Cubomed".
The Diploma is issued in appreciation for the active role in the dissemination of the project and program participation risk minimization of jellyfish stings and other risks associated with the use of the beaches.
As the entity responsible for monitoring, control and Rescue on the beaches of the city during the Coverage Plan Beaches, Spanish Red Cross Eagles has provided updated to the project managers on the number and location of incidents by jellyfish sting information .
The goal is to eliminate the impact of the jellyfish Carybdea Marsupialis on the ecosystem and on human beings, and proposing measures contrasted for total or partial eradication and establish a protocol of preventive measures (ecosystem-level) and corrective measures to reduce the risk colonization, explosions and impacts of box jellyfish.
It also includes the implementation of a network of "early warning" at national level, with the cooperation of municipalities, through aid stations and first aid as is the case in Eagles Spanish Red Cross and export the methodology and model know-how (know-how) act to other Mediterranean countries that may suffer similar problems.
