The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, through the Directorate General of Highways, will invest 675,347 euros in the rehabilitation and improvement of the RM-D13 highway, which runs through the natural landscape of the Sierra de Los Mayorales in Águilas.
The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Bernabé, stressed the importance of this pathway, which has a current annual 730,000 vehicles, with 2,000 drivers daily, which connects the highway Lorca-Eagles and the mining area of ​​the Cuesta de Gos, crossing said natural area.
"This is a project that will provide residents of Eagles, horticultural farmers and owners of stores in the area a safer and more stable Eagles already existing in the vicinity of the farm access road," said regional official.
In addition, the Minister said that this way "presents a state of disrepair in the lower layers of the pavement, which affects stability, to which was added a progressive aging of the wearing course."
Recover 14 kilometers of road
The improvement works of the road, covering about 14 kilometers, have been awarded to the company Construcciones y Excavaciones Sanchez Lopez, SL and have an implementation period of six months.
The intervention is projected on a stretch of road between the start of the track and 13,680 km.
The work, funded by the Autonomous Community under the contracted funds from the European Investment Bank loan, is to repair the structures, road and reconstruction of the firm.
In addition, we will proceed to the implementation of a new wearing course with asphalt hot, aimed at improving the evenness and structural rehabilitation of the road, in order to also help regenerate the tire-pavement grip.
