Friday 21 November, at 11.30 hours, the Mayor of Aguilas, Juan Ramírez Soto, accompanied by the official chronicler of the Villa, Luis Diaz and other municipal authorities, has uncovered a plaque commemorating the bicentenary of the death of Count Floridablanca, for his contribution to the founding of the town of Aguilas.
During the event, which was carried out on the street Floridablanca, both the mayor, as the official chronicler of the town, have emphasized that, in the late eighteenth century the Count of Floridablanca was appointed Prime Minister of Charles III and took the initiative of the works necessary for the development of the new population.
These works were entrusted to the brother of the Count of Floridablanca, Robles Vives, who recommended the King to request the appointment of a Deputy Magistrate Counsel for the defense of the interests of the Puerto de Aguilas in the municipality of Lorca.
Carlos III agrees and the new population becomes its own jurisdiction, but subject to the Mayor of Lorca.
