Wednesday 10 December, at 11.30 pm in the Hall of the Consistory aquiline, was carried out by the signing of a cooperation agreement between the City of Eagle, the Association and the Foundation Ecolec Restart.
Through this agreement we will work to ensure that waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), belonging to the category "Computer and Telecommunications Equipment", are managed in accordance with environmental regulations and the RD 208/2005 on the treatment of this type of waste.
During the ceremony, which was attended by the Mayor of Aguilas, Juan Ramírez Soto, Councilman Cleaning and Environment, Juan Perez, the Director of Restart, Francisco Gallego and the Director of Ecolec, José Ramón Carbajosa has been reported of work performed by these entities:
Restart Association was founded in 2007 with the aim of ensuring that all waste electrical and electronic Category 3 IT and telecommunications equipment "generated by the population of Murcia, are managed according to the strictest environmental standards, avoiding uncontrolled discharges that contaminate water and air.
Among the initiatives implemented by restart, include studies and research on the collection and control of waste belonging to category 3, and the design and distribution of educational and informative material on the need and obligation we all levels of society: citizens, businesses and institutions to collaborate with the maintenance of our environment and ensure that the waste of such devices are properly managed.
Ecolec Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created to defend the environment and has a strong commitment to sustainable development.
Its purpose is to efficiently manage the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in general, and to disseminate the experiences through studies, research, documentation, etc.
and promote the culture of sustainable development, being the main scope Spain.
Ecolec Foundation is certified ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environment and is integrated into the WEEE Forum, the European network of collective management systems for waste electrical and electronic equipment.
During 2007 the Foundation managed Ecolec 210,000 tons of equipment (WEEE), preventing the discharge into the atmosphere from about 290 million kilos of C02.
