Four decades after the conclusion of the Eagle Award for Best Novel, the newspaper The News, the Ateneo Aquilegia of Arts and Letters and the scholar José Asensio muster the writers of the time a memorial service held Saturday night Don Juan Hotel in the town.
Hosted by presenter Isabel Lopez, the event attracted a large group of attendees, including authorities, representatives of local associations and guests not to miss an evening filled with emotion and remembrance of important figures who have headed in a cultural golden age.
After a projection period photographs, the first to speak was José Asensio, who reminded the audience the importance that once established in the literary contest Eagles led the unanimous support and enthusiasm of a town dump in the initiative and popular subscription only income.
Asensio presented a memento to Carmen Rosado, the widow of the then mayor of Eagles, Landáburu Emilio and Angel Maria de Lera, son of writer aguileño the same name, for his work in his day exerted towards event.
Andreo Lorenzo won the first edition of the Eagle Award for his novel The Valley of Caracas, was the first to receive a plate of remembrance in the hands of Eagles director of Bancaja, José Bravo.
Andreo recalled excitedly spread in 1968 was such a prize and the pride that he took to win that first edition was made possible by the collection of people.
The second edition of the event, held in August 1969, was won by Cecilia Garcia Guillarte, a Basque writer, now deceased, who wrote Anyone give you death.
His daughter Ana Maria Ruiz, was charged with receiving a gift from the hands of Jules Lezamiz, historian and author of Cecilia García de Guilarte, reporter of the CNT.
"It's enormous gratitude I feel for being here in this memory that you offer to my mother and her work," said Ruiz, while Lezamiz took the floor to praise the only reporter who was on the northern front during the Republican Civil War.
Ramon Hernandez was the next to get on the podium and receive a commemorative plaque for the business by Beatriz García.
The writer, author of the novel The wrath of the night he won the third edition of the Prize of emotion caught the audience with his speech, which made no secret of the illusion that he was supposed to attend this tribute.
"It was like getting a second Eagle Award," he confessed.
Fourth, Joan Pla, author of Maremágnum received his gift from his friend and artist Manuel Coronado.
To complete the act, the directors of The News, and Eugenia Giménez Gualda Salvador, thanked all attendees for their presence and stressed the need to recover this award, calling on local authorities to support this initiative and that next year could be a reality.
Finally, the mayor of Culture was presented to the honorees of a gift of remembrance on behalf of the City of Eagles.
