The Director General of Roads of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, Jose Guijarro, today visited the construction of future highway RM-11, from Lorca to Eagles, where he announced that the degree of implementation of the action "is to 70 percent, "so that the road will open to traffic next summer.
The road was put into service in the 90's as a means of high capacity and, in the section between Lorca and Aguilas, has experienced a marked increase in heavy traffic in recent years due to the considerable development of agriculture and tourism the area of influence of the same.
The works, which assume full control of the access road and its transformation into a highway, began in September and have been funded by the Ministry with 1,681,821 euros.
The section under the action has a length of eight kilometers and is located between the Student and Collado link Mazarrón.
The director general noted that the objective of the action "is to increase security by managing access to new service roads, construction of roundabouts and deceleration and acceleration lanes, installation of safety barriers and the renewal of signaling, among other actions, ensuring safe and comfortable travel to the users of this route which has a annual traffic of more than 3,200,000 vehicles, of which 9 percent, some 300,000, are heavy. "
Access management will take place through the construction of service roads parallel to the road that will connect to existing links, thus creating new entrances and exits provided with corresponding speed change lanes.

The general director also advanced to the Ministry of Public Works, through the Directorate General of Highways, has recently sent the second phase of recruitment for future highway project Lorca-Eagles, which has a budget of over 3.5 million euros and will represent the culmination of this action.
