"The Women" is a smart, sparkling comedy about contemporary women's status and strength of the relationships between women.
Based on the 1939 movie by George Cukor and the play by Clare Boothe Luce, 1936, the film introduces us to a small but vocal group of Manhattan society dominated by the publishing, fashion and finance.
The story revolves around the character of Mary Haines (Meg Ryan), a thoroughly modern woman who suddenly is faced with an old problem: a cheating husband.
His friends, led by Sylvie Fowler, a dynamic editor played by Bening, quickly come to their aid.
But when Sylvie betrays Mary in a Faustian bargain, the group stumbles and two women suffer the most painful break from all your friendship.
