The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, today visited the premises Culmarex aquaculture company in Eagle, dedicated to the production of seabass and seabream high quality, grown on farms in the open sea.
Cerdá praised the "productive capacity" of regional aquaculture sector, which generates more than 300 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs in the 15 aquaculture facilities that exist in the region.
Responsible for Agriculture said that "Murcia is traditionally the most productive first place in the national aquaculture, with over 9.5 million kilos in 2008, results that represent" the highest levels of the last decade " .
Aquaculture production is an economic value of more than 60 million euros and is led by gold and tuna species, followed by sea bass and croaker.
Culmarex Group, which has plants spread over Andalucía, Murcia and Alicante, won last year production of 5,200 tonnes of sea bream and sea bass, of which 17 percent are for export.
In addition, the company recently purchased the Blue and Green, of San Pedro del Pinatar, dedicated to breeding and fattening of bream and sea bass, which licensed production of 800 tonnes, although it is also in the process of enlargement.
The Minister stressed the effort made by the company that "employs 320 people, of which 130 carry out their work in the town of Eagles", and whose workforce is young and very professional, "he stressed.
The owner of Agriculture said that Culmarex "has a high technology in its processes and has made a major commitment in the region, as a strategic center for processing and distribution of the entire group and especially in the municipality of Eagles."
Culmarex was the first aquaculture company in the Region of Murcia.

In 1987 he became Culmarex, and focused its production on the bream and sea bass.
