This action organized by the WWF is the largest campaign in defense of the environment in history, with the participation of 1000 million people.
Earth Hour 2009 will involve governments, citizens and businesses in a joint action to draw attention to the effects of global warming and demand that political leaders act to control CO2 emissions before it is too late.
So far, more than 1700 cities in 80 countries have pledged to turn the lights off most emblematic buildings, as a symbolic gesture of support for Earth Hour.
