The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Housing and Architecture, will conduct the final phase of the rehabilitation work of the parish church of San José, located in the center area of the municipality of Eagles.
The general director of Housing and Architecture, Mark Nogueroles, said: "This is a public interest action that will restore this landmark neoclassical building dating from the nineteenth century and part of the architectural heritage of the municipality."
Public Works began the rehabilitation of this building in 1998, when he carried out actions in the rear facade.
Subsequently, the council requested aguileño improving the facade of the church that faces the Plaza of Spain, a performance that is currently under development and will be completed over the coming months.
With this latest intervention to be undertaken in the side of the building facade facing the street Juan Carlos I, the Ministry will the recovery of the entire facade of this temple which was built in 1853.
The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Housing and Architecture, will fund 75 percent of the total cost of the action, amounting to 65,800 euros, while the Eagles City contribute 25 percent Left.
The scheme fits into the program of "Adaptation and restoration of facades, roofs and medians', which aims to recover the values, meaning and character of those buildings that surround their qualities and architectural interest are capable of protecting and preserved.
History of the Church of San José
The original church was located hooked in a warehouse to store esparto was enabled as a place of worship in 1970 under the designation of the Purisima Concepcion and San Indalecio Lord.
Its first priest was Francisco Xavier Contreras, who promoted the idea of building a parish church.
As stated in the documents of the time, the parish was founded with the name of San Jose in June 1799.
Since the stock started the cult church in 1790 until 1853, date on which the current church was opened, passed 63 years.
The present parish building works lasted from 1810 to 1853.
